Eyes not yet open
Rolling over in the early morning light
To reach for the phone, hoping….
Taking it in hand, eyes slowly open
Heart begins to race, clicking the button, still hoping.
First smile of the day crosses my lips
As I read the simple message before me
Those two small words setting the tone
Feet then hit the floor and I proceed with the day.
Green light flashes as a beacon
Heart skips a beat, butterflies beat their wings
Because I know its HIM
Reading the words, no matter what they are
Never failing to keep a smile on my face.
Day continues, messages here and there
Some bring a smile, some a laugh
Some a tingle, some a racing heart
And some that cause the butterflies to grow.
End of the day draws near
And the time comes to close my eyes
Green light flashes and my heart again skips a beat
And I know it’s the perfect ending to my day.
